FAQ
HVAC Duct Machinery FAQ
30 frequently asked questions about HVAC ductwork machinery — from procurement and Incoterms to installation and warranty — answered by SBKJ Group engineers in plain English.
About SBKJ Group
What does SBKJ Group manufacture?
SBKJ Group manufactures HVAC ductwork machinery: spiral duct forming machines (Φ80 to Φ2000 mm), automatic rectangular duct production lines (SBAL-V and SBAL-III), TDF flange forming machines, Pittsburgh lockformers, gore-lockers, elbow welders, seam closing machines and auxiliary equipment. Founded 1995 in Jiangyin, China.
How many countries has SBKJ delivered to?
Over 5,000 SBKJ machines are installed in more than 80 countries across six continents, including Australia, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, UK, Germany, France, Russia, Brazil, Mexico and many others.
Is SBKJ certified?
Yes. SBKJ Group is ISO 9001:2015 certified. All machines are CE marked for European compliance. SBKJ holds 60+ invention and utility patents in its own name.
What is the SBKJ Group headquarters address?
No.78 Huanxi Road, Zhutang Town, Jiangyin City, Jiangsu Province, China. The Australia office is at 5 Twyford Street, Box Hill North, VIC 3129, Australia.
Auto duct production lines
What is the maximum daily output of an SBAL-V auto duct line?
An SBAL-V fully automatic auto duct production line produces 800 to 2,500 square meters of finished rectangular duct per day with a single operator. Output depends on duct size mix, material and shift pattern.
What is the difference between SBAL-V and SBAL-III?
SBAL-V is fully automatic, single-operator, U-shape flow with integrated TDF and Pittsburgh lock. SBAL-III is hydraulic semi-automatic with separate TDF and lockformer stations and typically two operators. SBAL-V has roughly 3x the productivity per operator hour. See our side-by-side comparison.
Which materials can SBKJ duct lines handle?
Galvanized steel (G60, G90, G115), stainless steel 304 and 316, aluminium (3003-H14 and 5052-H32) and aluminised steel. Thickness range 0.5 to 1.5 mm on auto duct lines; heavier gauge on standalone equipment. See our material selection guide.
What floor area does an SBAL-V need?
Approximately 30 meters by 8 meters of clear floor area, with 1.5 m clearance on both long sides. Ceiling height minimum 4.5 meters. See our factory layout guide.
Spiral duct machines
What diameter range do SBKJ spiral tubeformers cover?
From Φ80 mm up to Φ2000 mm. The SBTF-1602 covers Φ80 to Φ1600 mm with flying shear cutting. The SBTF-2020 extends up to Φ2000 mm for large industrial duct.
What is flying shear vs saw blade cutting?
Flying shear cuts the spiral duct while it is still moving through the line — no sparks, no swarf, no secondary deburring — and is preferred for high-volume production. Saw blade stops the duct briefly and cuts with a rotating blade; mechanically simpler and easier to maintain. See our spiral forming guide.
TDF flange & lock forming
What is TDF flange?
TDF stands for Transverse Duct Flange. It is a metal flange profile rolled directly into the end of a rectangular duct section, eliminating the need for bolted angle frames. TDF joints install 3 to 5 times faster than angle flange and achieve better seal class. See our TDF vs angle flange comparison.
What is a Pittsburgh lock?
The Pittsburgh lock is the standard longitudinal seam for rectangular HVAC duct. It interlocks two sheet metal edges into a 5-bend profile, then flattens them into a single continuous seam. Formed on a lockformer (SBLC series) and closed on the duct line.
What is SMACNA Seal Class A?
SMACNA Seal Class A is the tightest duct seal class, requiring all transverse joints, longitudinal seams and duct wall penetrations to be sealed. Used for high-pressure systems (3 in. w.g. and above) and critical applications like laboratories, hospitals and clean rooms. For project-specific machine guidance see the HVAC duct machinery by industry hub and the data center vertical. Also see our SMACNA seal classes guide.
Lead times & Incoterms
What is the typical lead time from order to delivery?
Production lead time at the Jiangyin factory is 60-90 days depending on configuration. Add 30-45 days for sea freight to most destinations, plus 5-14 days customs clearance. Total door-to-door is typically 4-5 months from contract signing. See our full importing guide.
Which Incoterms does SBKJ support?
SBKJ supports EXW, FOB Shanghai, CIF, CFR and DDP. CIF is the most common for first-time buyers because SBKJ handles export customs and main carriage. DDP can be quoted on request for buyers who want a single landed cost to their warehouse.
What payment terms are standard?
30% deposit by T/T to confirm the order, 70% balance against bill of lading copy or before shipment. Letter of credit (L/C) at sight is also accepted for orders above USD 100,000.
Does SBKJ handle export documentation?
Yes. SBKJ provides commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin (Form A or generic), CE certificate and HS code declaration as part of the standard export pack.
What is the HS code for HVAC duct forming machines?
Most HVAC duct forming machines use HS code 8462.49 or 8479.89. SBKJ provides the correct HS code on the commercial invoice for customs clearance.

Can I visit the SBKJ factory before ordering?
Yes. SBKJ welcomes factory visits at the Jiangyin headquarters, including a Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) before shipment. SBKJ also runs an Australia office in Box Hill North, VIC for English-speaking buyers.
Does SBKJ run Factory Acceptance Tests?
Yes. Every auto duct line and major machine goes through a Factory Acceptance Test at the Jiangyin factory before shipment. FAT includes full forming cycle on customer coil specs, tolerance measurement, TDF and Pittsburgh seam verification, and a signed PLC cycle log.
