Typical applications. Spiral tubeformers produce continuous round duct from coil stock and are used wherever round duct is preferred over rectangular — kitchen exhaust, industrial dust extraction, high-velocity supply systems, mine ventilation and clean-room return paths. Typical buyers include round-duct specialists, large mechanical contractors needing on-site spiral capacity, and OEM manufacturers of dust collection and material handling systems. Spiral duct is also increasingly specified for architecturally exposed HVAC because of its clean visual lines.

How it works. A spiral tubeformer takes coil stock through a series of forming heads that progressively roll the strip into a helical tube while continuously locking the spiral seam. Cut-off is performed either by flying shear (cuts the duct while it is still moving — no sparks, no swarf, no secondary deburring) or by saw blade (mechanically simpler, easier to maintain). Output diameter is changed by swapping the forming head set, typically a 30–60 minute changeover for trained operators.

On a typical spiral duct workshop layout, this machine sits in the helical-forming line between the decoiler and the cut-off saw. Coil stock feeds from a 5-tonne uncoiler with motorised edge guide, runs through the spiral former, and the finished tube is parted off in single-length increments by an inline plasma or shear cut-off. Downstream of the line, finished spiral duct goes either to a flanging cell, a jointer for fitting manufacture, or directly to packing for export. Operator and maintenance notes. The Ovalizer SBHT‑3100 is designed to be run by a single trained operator under normal conditions. Daily checks include lubrication of the forming rolls, inspection of the drive belts and chain tension, and a clean-down of the tool surfaces. Weekly checks add electrical cabinet inspection and a torque check on the main frame fasteners.
