Typical applications. Sheet metal forming and bending machines complete the cross-section of duct walls and fittings. Folding and bending equipment is needed for short-run rectangular duct, custom transitions, saddles and offsets that don't justify a full automatic line. Plate rolling is essential for round duct fittings and for any cylindrical industrial duct work. Every duct shop, regardless of size, needs at least one folding or rolling machine to handle the work that an auto duct line cannot.

How it works. Forming and bending machines work the sheet metal into its final cross-section. Folding machines use a clamping beam and a swinging blade to bend the sheet to the programmed angle; rolling machines pass the sheet between three or four rolls to produce a continuous curve. Both operations can be programmed and repeated for batch production.

Where this fits in your workshop

Cutting, bending and forming machines are the upstream stations of any duct workshop. Coil stock is sheared to length, scored and bent into the duct shape, and then handed off to the seam closer or the TDF former. On an SBAL-V auto duct line these operations are integrated into a single coil-to-duct line; on a manual or semi-auto workshop they are stand-alone stations operated by 2–4 staff. SBKJ supplies the full upstream set — coil line, plasma cutter, folder, beader, rollformer — either matched to one of our auto lines or as individual replacements for ageing equipment.

Operator and maintenance notes. The Pneumatic Folding Machine is designed to be run by a single trained operator under normal conditions. Daily checks include lubrication of the forming rolls, inspection of the drive belts and chain tension, and a clean-down of the tool surfaces. Weekly checks add electrical cabinet inspection and a torque check on the main frame fasteners. SBKJ ships every machine with an English operator manual, a maintenance schedule and a recommended two-year spare parts kit.
