After-sales & service

Installation, commissioning, warranty and after-sales support

A duct machine is a 15 to 20 year decision, and most of that life happens after the machine arrives. This page is the single reference for what SBKJ does once you place an order: the Factory Acceptance Test before it ships, the on-site installation and commissioning, operator training, the 12-month warranty, the 72-hour technical support response, and the lifetime spare-parts support that keeps the machine running in any of the 100+ countries where SBKJ machines operate.

The after-sales lifecycle, step by step

Every SBKJ order follows the same support path from factory to full production. Knowing the sequence in advance lets a buyer plan workshop preparation, electrical work and operator availability so commissioning runs without delay.

  1. Factory Acceptance Test (before shipment)Your machine runs a full forming cycle on your coil specification at the production facility. You attend in person or by video call.
  2. Export packing & shipmentThe machine is crated in fumigated ISPM 15 timber, loaded to container, and shipped with the full English document pack.
  3. On-site installation & commissioningSBKJ engineers travel to your workshop to rig, level, connect, calibrate and run the machine into first production.
  4. Operator & maintenance trainingYour team is trained hands-on during commissioning — PLC operation, tooling changeover, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
  5. 12-month warranty & 72-hour supportFrom the day the machine is commissioned, the warranty period runs and the engineer who knows your machine is one message away.
  6. Lifetime spare partsOriginal parts stay available against your serialised build record for the full 15 to 20 year service life of the machine.

Factory Acceptance Test — the machine is proven before it ships

Every auto duct line and every major machine passes a Factory Acceptance Test at the production facility before it is released for shipment. The FAT is not a token demonstration: it runs the full forming cycle on your own coil specification, measures dimensional tolerances, verifies TDF and Pittsburgh seam quality, and produces a signed PLC cycle log. Buyers attend the FAT in person or join by video call, so the machine is proven to your standard before it ever leaves for your port. The full manufacturing and quality-control workflow that leads up to the FAT is documented on the quality control page.

On-site installation and commissioning

On-site installation supervision by SBKJ engineers is included with every auto duct line. A commissioning visit is typically 1 to 2 engineers for 5 to 10 days for a single line, and 3 to 7 days for a standalone machine. The engineers do not simply hand over a crate — they take the machine all the way to verified production:

  • Mechanical rigging, levelling and anchoring of the machine on your floor
  • Electrical hookup to your supply and verification of phase, voltage and earthing
  • PLC calibration and tuning to your coil and gauge range
  • First production run and first-article duct produced against your project standard
  • Sign-off only once the line is producing to tolerance at the rated output

Workshop preparation before the engineers arrive — concrete slab, electrical connection, compressed-air line and coil handling — is the buyer's responsibility and is the single biggest factor in how fast commissioning completes. The HVAC duct factory layout guide and the pricing & lead time page set out exactly what needs to be ready.

Operator and maintenance training

A machine is only as productive as the people running it. SBKJ delivers hands-on operator and maintenance training at the customer's factory during commissioning, or at SBKJ's Australian headquarters before shipment. Training is practical, on the actual machine, and covers PLC operation and recipe setup, tooling changeover between gauges and profiles, the preventive-maintenance schedule, and first-line troubleshooting. The goal is a team that can run and maintain the line independently, not one that has to call for every adjustment.

The 12-month warranty

Every SBKJ machine carries a 12-month standard warranty that runs from the date of commissioning, not the date of shipment — so the clock starts when the machine actually goes into production at your site. The warranty covers all mechanical and electrical components against defects, excluding normal wearing parts such as forming rolls, cutting blades, drive belts and bearings, which are consumables replaced on a maintenance schedule. Preventive-maintenance recommendations are provided at hand-over, and following them is what keeps both the warranty and the machine's long-term reliability intact.

Technical support — 72-hour response, remote first

SBKJ commits to a technical support response within 72 hours via WhatsApp or video call. The majority of issues — a PLC alarm, a tooling adjustment, a tolerance drift — are diagnosed and resolved remotely, often with the same engineer who commissioned your line and knows its exact configuration. On-site visits are scheduled for complex mechanical work that genuinely needs hands on the machine. Because over 5,000 SBKJ machines are in service across 100+ countries on six continents, the support model is built for remote diagnosis first, which is what keeps a machine on the far side of the world from sitting idle while a part or an engineer is in transit.

Spare parts for the life of the machine

A standard spare-parts kit sized for the first 12 months of normal operation ships with every machine, so the common wearing parts are on your shelf from day one. Beyond that, original spare parts remain available from the production facility for the full 15 to 20 year service life of the machine. Parts are ordered against the serialised build record, which means the part supplied is matched to your exact machine and its build configuration rather than a generic equivalent. This is why SBKJ machines built in the 1990s and 2000s are still in daily production worldwide — the parts to keep them running never stopped being available.

Designed for 15 to 20 years of service

SBKJ machines are engineered for a 15 to 20 year service life under normal use with proper preventive maintenance. Reaching the top of that range is not luck — it comes from following the maintenance schedule provided at training, keeping the standard wearing parts in stock so a worn roll or blade is changed before it damages anything downstream, and using original spare parts ordered against the build record. The total-cost-of-ownership breakdown on the pricing & lead time page shows why the low unscheduled-downtime figure over a ten-year horizon, not the headline capital cost, is the number that decides the real cost of a machine.

Supported in 100+ countries

Over 5,000 SBKJ machines are installed in 100+ countries across six continents — including Australia, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, the UK, Germany, France, Russia, Brazil and Mexico. The after-sales model described on this page is the same wherever the machine lands: a proven FAT before it ships, engineers on site for commissioning and training, a warranty that starts at commissioning, a 72-hour support response, and original spare parts for the life of the machine.

See the after-sales process in practice in three documented installations — the Vietnam SBAL-V auto duct line, the Saudi Arabia SBTF-1602 spiral line and the Australia SBAL-III workshop — each reporting the commissioning timeline and first-year production results from the buyer.

After-sales support FAQ

What warranty does SBKJ offer on its duct machines?

Every SBKJ machine carries a 12-month standard warranty from the date of commissioning, covering all mechanical and electrical components except normal wearing parts. Preventive-maintenance recommendations are provided at hand-over, and original spare parts are available from the production facility for the full service life of the machine.

Does SBKJ install and commission the machine on my site?

Yes. On-site installation supervision by SBKJ engineers is included with every auto duct line, typically 1–2 engineers for 5–10 days. The visit covers mechanical commissioning, electrical hookup, PLC calibration, first production run and first-article duct production against your project standard. Standalone machines are commissioned in 3–7 days.

What is the response time for technical support?

SBKJ commits to a technical support response within 72 hours via WhatsApp or video call. Most issues are diagnosed remotely with the engineer who knows your machine; on-site visits are scheduled for complex mechanical work. Support is available across all 100+ countries where SBKJ machines operate.

How long are spare parts available?

A standard spare-parts kit sized for the first 12 months ships with every machine. After that, original spare parts remain available from the production facility for the full 15–20 year service life, ordered against the serialised build record so the correct part is matched to your exact machine.

When does the warranty period start?

The 12-month warranty runs from the date of commissioning — the day the machine is signed off into production at your site — not from the date of shipment. This means the warranty covers the machine through its first year of real production, not time spent in transit or in your store.
