Why visit the SBKJ stand at AHR Expo 2027

AHR Expo is the largest HVAC and refrigeration trade show in North America with 60,000+ visitors and 1,800+ exhibitors. For US, Canadian and Mexican fabricators evaluating new duct production equipment, AHR is the rare three-day window where the engineering team that designs the machines is on the floor running real coil through real machines — not selling slides, not offering brochures, just answering specification questions and giving real numbers on lead times, freight from Melbourne to Long Beach, and the 480V/60Hz wiring details that make a machine deployable in the US without rewiring.

If you are evaluating an SBAL-V auto duct line, planning a Pittsburgh lockformer upgrade, or scoping a new spiral tubeformer for a data centre or semiconductor fab project, three days at AHR Expo is the cheapest engineering due diligence you can buy. Pre-show factory tours at Box Hill North, VIC are also available for buyers travelling from the US ahead of the show.

What’s on the stand

SBKJ runs three live demonstrations on a rolling 30-minute cycle across the three show days. All machines are wired for 480V three-phase 60Hz to match standard US industrial power and shipped with NEMA 12 enclosures and UL 508A control panels.

1. SBTF series spiral tubeformer (live operation)

  • Diameter range: 4 inches to 32 inches (Phi 100 mm to Phi 800 mm) round duct — covering the bulk of US commercial HVAC supply, return and exhaust specifications.
  • Coil: 5.4-inch slit galvanized steel coil (137 mm), 24 to 16 gauge thickness range. Live coil change demonstration twice daily.
  • Cutting: Flying-shear cutting on the demo unit — cleanest cut quality available without saw-blade tooling cost.
  • Seam: Standard mandrel-formed lockseam meeting SMACNA seal class C.
  • Output: Up to 100 ft/min (30 m/min) depending on diameter and gauge. Single operator.

2. SBAL-V auto duct production line (sectional demo)

  • Configuration: Coil-to-finished-rectangular-section in one continuous flow — decoiler, sheet feed, notch and corner punch, lockformer, fold station, TDF flange integration.
  • Section size: Up to 60 inches wide (1,500 mm), 24 to 16 gauge.
  • Cycle time: Standard rectangular section in approximately 3 minutes from coil to crated finished duct.
  • Control: Siemens S7-1500 PLC with HMI in English. Cut list import from Revit MEP, CAMduct and direct DXF supported — bring a sample fab file and we will run it on the stand.
  • Pressure class: Outputs SMACNA pressure class 1 through 6 inches water gauge ductwork.

3. TDF flange former (table demo)

  • What it does: Roll-forms a TDF flange directly into the rectangular duct edge — eliminates the welded angle iron flange that adds 18-26 lbs (8-12 kg) per joint.
  • Standards: SMACNA HVAC Duct Construction Standards 4th Edition compliant when paired with the matched corner clip and gasket.
  • Demo: Live forming on 12-inch (305 mm) samples; visitors take home a flanged offcut.

Private engineering consultations

SBKJ runs 30-minute private consultations on the stand throughout the three show days. Consultations are led by an SBKJ engineer with a structured agenda specifically tailored for North American buyers:

  1. Project brief (5 min) — coil spec in inches/gauge, throughput target in m²/day or sections/shift, SMACNA pressure class, project type.
  2. Machine match (10 min) — specific SBKJ model recommendation, footprint in feet/inches, electrical load (480V/60Hz amps), compressed air requirement.
  3. Indicative landed cost (10 min) — machine price USD, freight from Port Melbourne to your nominated US port (LA/LB, Houston, Savannah, NY/NJ), marine insurance, US customs broker estimate, AUSFTA preferential duty.
  4. Next steps (5 min) — FAT timeline, factory visit options, contract milestones, B-1 visa engineer commissioning support.

Consultations are free and non-binding. Book a slot in advance — weekday morning slots fill first.

Section 301 tariffs — the Australian-origin advantage

One of the questions SBKJ engineers get most often at AHR Expo from US buyers is about Section 301 tariffs. Worth being specific: HVAC duct forming machinery imported from Australia under HS code 8479.89 is not subject to the additional Section 301 tariff schedule. Standard MFN duty is 0% or low single digits; AUSFTA preferential treatment is available with the Form 035 Certificate of Origin we supply. Compared to certain Asian-origin alternatives, SBKJ landed cost into the US carries materially less tariff exposure for the buyer.

Pre-show preparation — what to bring

If you want to extract maximum value from a 30-minute consultation, bring three pieces of information:

  1. Your current coil specification — width in inches, thickness in gauge or mil, material (galvanized G60/G90, stainless 304/316), and supplier mill cert if available.
  2. Your target throughput — square feet of duct per shift, or linear feet per hour, or sections per day — whichever metric your shop tracks.
  3. Your standards reference — SMACNA HVAC Duct Construction Standards 4th Edition pressure class. The pressure class drives gauge mapping, reinforcement spacing and seal class requirements.

Optional but useful: a sample Revit MEP cut list, your shop floor plan as PDF or DWG, your current bottleneck description, and any specific spare-parts or warranty questions you want addressed in writing.
